The stars finally aligned and I decided to install my kit. I have a few gaps to deal with before Im done, plus wiring to finish for the backup camera and tv antenna. I also need to run the GPS antenna somewhere, as I have it crudely laid on top of the dash at the moment. The size of the din kits opening is xmm, the faceplate of the stereo is x97mm. To be honest, Im actually impressed with the stereos functionality and sound quality. Its like I have new speakers it sounds so good. The GPS actually works pretty well, as does the Bluetooth streaming. I cant wait to try out the backup camera. Anyway, here are some shots I took during the install of my new stereo. Let me know what you think! My harnesses all wired together. Shout out to SVXdc for an easy ordering process and making my life easy. Yes, the crack was already there above on the top vents. Oh haha, gotcha. I installed it tonight, so Ill have to follow up once Ive used it a bit more. I opened the navi just to see my position and look up a route. That all worked great! The radio sounds better than the stock, and Bluetooth sounds fantastic. So Im a complete audio noob other than installing a basic head unit or two back in the day and recently picked up a LGT with the Double Din and JDM climate controls installed. However, the buttons on the climate control dont light up at night and the previous owner said he wasnt able to figure out how to do it. Everything else works properly except for the back-lights which is strange. Does it sound like Ill need to buy the i88 and other harnesses, cut the wires and just re-wire everything back up? I havent taken a look behind the head unit yet to see how it is set up but I might do so and take some pictures to post here. It should work fine in centigrade also it should fit just fine considering you guys drive on the right hand side. As far as them being different, Im not exactly sure why they are. Youre probably going to want some extra awg wire sitting around and some zip ties. I took my dash apart like 5 times messing with my install and I shorted something at first. If you bought the i88 harness adapter life will be a breeze for you. If not its a little harder. Youre still going to want a metro harness adapter for your radio unless you plan on hacking up you stocker I hacked mine up previously for a line out converter and spent a lot of time repairing it during the install. Check out post in this thread. All my mistakes and corrections are listed in there. Waiting on my harness from SvxDC. Ever consider pulling the femal i88 plug from the back of the old radio? All you have to do is unsolder from the board and resolder wires to the pins. Or you can just cut the whole i88 plug off, depin 3 wires, pin them to the i85, and splice I prefer being able to easily put my car back to stock in the future. I have the metra plug but Im waiting on the i85, swc controller, and some other stuff. Yeah Im not sure why you guys are trying to reinvent the wheel here. Just get the harness from SVXdc the 14 pin harness and the i88 splice them into the aftermarket stereo harness. No reinventing just goingy own way faster and just about the same amount of PITAery And we all know tha SVXdc is a busy man and is hard to get a hold of at times Yeah but from what SVXdc has said the other 14 pin harnesses out there need additional pins to work right and since most have to wait for the i88 it makes sense to me to just get the 14 pin from him. Sounds good man. I bought my car for way more than its worth a few years ago and I plan on driving it to the ground with me so a butchered wiring harness is the least of my issues The only way I could really help you is if you sent me a picture of the backside of your stereo harness with a picture of your pinout. The beginning of the thread is pretty good at explaining it all though. Did you get all your jdm equipment? Like your hazard button and bezel?
