Conks, Taylor of old bond streets, D. Harris and e Shaves on the market? Im a bit of a newbie and am still on my first soap, the Sensitive Proraso soap but am loving the new ritual. For the ozbargainer, Id have to recommend proraso eucalyptus. I used to use TOBS but it is a bit expensive. Out of curiosity, what razor are you using btw? DE shaving is pretty fun D. Ive been thinking about trying the Proraso White, looks like a decent one for sensitive skin from what ive read! Well see how it goes! Yeah, Ive been using the white Proraso sensitive soap with a restored Schick Krona and testing out a bunch of blades. So far the Personna blades are the best from the 4 brands Ive tried. Feathers, Merkur, Derby and Personnas. Another vote for Proraso here. In the past I have used Trumpers soaps, theyre much more expensive and I reckon harder to work up a decent lather with. The Proraso is easy to lather up and a tube lasts for ages. I use the same blade for up to four to five months – because Razorpit easily cleans the front surface of the blade. I use Taylors of Bond st sandalwood or shaving shop cream bowl and Feather blades. If you want to make a huge lather get an Omega pro48 boar brush. Takes a while to break in but one of my better brushes. Good luck. I use one, and I never feel the need for an expensive badger brush. But for the Ozbargainer, its hard to go past Arko. This will last you more than half a decade of daily shaves. Dont let hippie morals get between you and a good product. Besides which, you can just raid the bio-waste bins at liposuction clinics for your raw materials . Wow I just realised despite shaving for years I know very little about it using a Gillette foam tube and razor. Can someone point me in a direction of a good blade, brush and soap? Price isnt really a huge concern as long as it isnt insane. From this thread it seems that the proraso eucalyptus is one to try? I picked up a few DE razors a while back from some 2nd hand stores Salvos, etc. You have to spend a bit of money initially but in the long run the blades are as cheap as and a much closer shave too meaning less frequent shaves. Go to Aesop and ask about their shaving products. They usually give you a free sample kit with instructions and a sample of each of the products. It is a pretty full on process srub, serum, toner, post shave, moisturise etc but the end result was the best shave I have ever had. I ended up buying the Aesop Shaving Serum which looks expensive but lasts a long time. I still have heaps of the sample kits that I use when travelling. Find Me A Bargain. Is this the one that you bought OP? The Proraso pre shave is good too. Best shaving investment you will ever make. Excellent product. The savings in blades quickly add up. Excellent birthday, wedding, Christmas etc present for guys who have everything. Ive been using mine for about three years and cant imagine shaving without it. Smells like a pigs arse when you first use it though . Shaving soaps made with tallow dead animals. IMO, Tabac is simply the best. The trouble is, its no longer socially acceptible to boil them up. It turns into a bit of a ritual after a while. The lather, the shave, the aftershave. Login or Join to leave a comment Login Join. New Forum Topics Loading
