This was not an easy decision to make and we realize it will come as a disappointment to everyone. We approached the event with the belief that even in these difficult times we could present a safe, yet entertaining experience. Our health safety plan for the Polar Express includes reducing the number of patrons attending, social distancing on the trains, everyone wearing masks, and increased sanitizing during the event. With the current, dramatic surge in COVID cases in Wisconsin and Brown County, we feel that it is no longer safe to present the event in and made the very difficult decision to cancel. The decision to cancel the event was impacted by two overriding concerns. First and foremost is our continuing concern for the health and safety of our community, patrons who attend the event, volunteers, and staff. Second is the quality of the experience passengers would have. The Polar Express Train Ride is a fun, family, holiday tradition. With current, necessary health safety practices, the event would not have provided the value we want Museum patrons to experience. Additionally, as a current Polar Express Train Ride passenger we will offer you a special pre-sale opportunity for the event. On board the train, our adventure continues as you interact with the characters from the story. This is not a train ride where you will see holiday decorations every inch of the way. We will travel through cold, dark forests, encounter a hobo, view the Northern Lights and see polar bears in the Arctic Circle. Santa will visit with some of the passengers on board the train. Once we arrive at the North Pole, those that did not visit with Santa on the train will have time to see him before he heads around the world on Christmas Eve.
